F is for Firebolt

The Firebolt broomstick is the fastest broomstick in the Harry Potter universe, able to go from zero to 150 m/h (approx 240 km/h) in 10 seconds, so it stands to reason that it’s also the most expensive (at least it’s supposed to be). No one knows for sure how much the Firebolt cost as the price was only available upon request.

Internet forums love a good debate, and many have hypothesized that the broom’s cost comes in at around 300 Galleons. Of course, without a Muggle to Magic money exchange rate, this price tag is rather meaningless.

Did you know that when asked about the exchange rate of a Galleon, the author of the universe mentioned that one Galleon is the equivalent of 5 British pounds (give or take). That would mean the cost of a Firebolt would be about 1,500 GBP (or a little over 2,000 USD).

Of course, that would have been 1993 dollars, so I’m not sure I want to know the cost of the Firebolt in today’s market.
