Ice Cream Release 🍦

Released on 2019 Aug 05

What’s new

  • A whole new look for your links
In the new panel navigation, you can now organize your personal links into Categories in Links view.

System Admins can also create Shared Categories for org links and then set the visibility for each Category using List Selector. This allows for setting up groups of links relevant to a department, location, team or individuals.

    Links-2

Who can do this: System Admins can create Shared Categories, and all users can create personal Categories. Check out more details here.

  • Japanese is now supported
Japanese is the latest option to be added to My Preferences > Language, joining a list that already includes English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Danish, Polish, and Arabic.

Who can do this: all users.

  • Tasks Beta updates
For beta testers, you can now create tasks from Library and Discussions. This makes it easier for you to add references and personal reminders. These tasks that you create will automatically include a link back to the original item or comment.

Who can do this: users in orgs who are Beta testing Tasks.

PLUS  76 other bug fixes and/or performance enhancements.

Did you know that it was National Ice Cream Day? It's the third Sunday in July, so this year it fell on the 21st, which also happens to be National Junk Food Day AND National Be Someone Day! Of course, I honored all three at once and celebrated National "Be Someone Who Eats Junk Food and Ice Cream" Day (making it no different than any other day of the year for me).

Honey Release 🍯

Released on 2019 July 17

What's new

  • Events: new RSVP settings
For Events where you’d like to limit the number of attendees due to capacity, you can now use the new RSVP settings. The next time you host a super popular event, Events can help you manage the number of attendants and the waitlist so that you don’t have to awkwardly un-invite a coworker.

Who can do this: Events Creators and Managers.

  • Tasks: Beta updates
We added new sorting filters so that you can more easily collaborate with and assign tasks to others.

If you have email, browser, or mobile notifications turned on, they now have a link that you can click to take you directly to the task assigned.

To get someone’s attention and make sure everyone’s in the loop, you can now use @mentions in the comments.

Who can do this: users in orgs who are Beta testing Tasks.

PLUS 62 other bug fixes and/or performance enhancements.

Did you know that a key part of the honey creation process involves groups of bees digesting, then regurgitating, flower nectar—which they pass along from bee to bee? Ick.

Although, once you consider that the possibly oldest alcoholic beverage in the world is made from honey (mead aka honey wine, dates back 9,000 years), the fact that bees throw it up after consuming large quantities doesn't seem that odd anymore.

Granny Smith Release 🍏

Released on 2019 July 3

What's new

  • Use Calls with microphone-only access
Previously, you needed to have a device with both its microphone and camera enabled to use Calls. Now you can enable just the microphone to use Calls, meaning you don’t have to worry about your camera turning on.

Who can use this: users in orgs with Calls enabled

PLUS 93 other bug fixes and/or performance enhancements.

Did you know that the Granny Smith apple was unintentionally created in Australia in 1868? Maria Ann "Granny" Smith had been cooking with French crab apples and dumped the remains in her yard. Soon after a chance seedling had sprung up where she dumped them. Smith propagated the seedling, finding the apples to be good for cooking as well as general consumption.

After her death, the new owners of her farm exhibited "Granny Smith's seedling" at horticulture shows. As the apple took off in popularity, they stuck with the "Granny Smith" name—which I'm sure everyone found to be much more appealing than "Granny's Crabby Compost apples".

Fries Release 🍟

Released on 2019 June 19

What's new

  • Save time organizing your Library with drag and drop
You can now reorder Volumes within a Category and move Volumes between Categories by dragging them. You can also quickly reorder Categories in this way.

Who can do this: Volume Librarians (Volumes) and Category Librarians (Categories).

  • Events and Classifieds editors now match the News editor
We heard great feedback about the updated News editor, so now the same editor layout can be found in Events and Classifieds. Rather than scrolling all the way to the bottom to access settings, they can now be found in the Options column on the right.

Who can do this: Events Creators and Managers for Events, News Reporters and Editors for News.

  • Viewing attachments in Discussions just got clearer
We updated the view/download/remove options for managing attachments in Discussions. This new visual navigation allows you to better view attachments at a glance.

  • You can now turn off your location indicator
Previously, if your administrator had location indicator enabled for the organization, but you wanted to turn off yours specifically, you would have disabled it via browser settings. Now you can easily turn off your location indicator via My Preferences.

Who can do this: all users.

  • Limit the number of users that can be added to a Discussion
Sometimes a large amount of users are accidentally added to a Discussion, which creates a lot of noise and confusion. While you were always able to whitelist who can start a Discussion, you can now limit the number of users that can be added to a Discussion. You can still use the whitelist to manage users who can exceed that limit. Email support@jostle.me if you’re interested in this.

Who can do this: System Administrators.

PLUS  90 other bug fixes and/or performance enhancements.

Did you know that those oh-so-delicious, but certainly not nutritious, McDonald's fries are harbouring a dark secret? And no, it's not that they're not really made from potatoes (they are). However, that doesn't mean they're exactly vegan-friendly.

It's about that addictive, world-famous taste that McDonald's fries have. Turns out that it's due to "natural beef flavour" added to the vegetable oil used in their fry pans. So, if avoiding animal products is part of your regular diet, you might have to say "bye-bye fries" from now on (or you could just choose to believe that this flavouring is simply a by-product of cows enjoying leisurely dips in soothing vats of veggie oil and just soaking there for a little while...y'know, like big, bovine tea bags).

Egg Release 🥚

Released on 2019 June 5

What's new

  • Drag and drop Library files
Files and folders can now be dragged and dropped into folders within their same Volume. This allows you to move files and folders much more easily and quickly.

Who can do this: Category and Volume Librarians.

  • Updates to Discussion

The action bar on Discussions is redesigned to be more intuitive. Now you can “like”, copy text, and grab the comment link more easily.

To help reduce noise in Discussions, there’s a new alert message to users that create or edit a Discussion that’s targeted to 30+ individuals. The alert will recommend alternatives like changing a Private Discussion to Discoverable and/or reducing the number of targeted individuals.

  • Updates to the G Suite automation screen

For Google-integrated customers, you’ll notice new improvements in the G Suite Automation screen in Administration settings. System Administrators who bulk manage their Contributors will now see more details about the available automation options when on this screen.

Who can do this: System Administrators in Google-integrated orgs.

  • Option to center company logo on the Main Navigation
Simple, but highly requested. You can now center your logo in the Main Navigation bar.

Who can use this: System Administrators. Details on branding your intranet are here.

PLUS 78 other bug fixes and/or performance enhancements.

Did you know that there's actually an answer to that age-old conundrum, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg"? Turns out it was the chicken! Apparently, a component of eggshellsa particular proteincan only be found in chicken ovaries. In other words, you can only get an egg(shell) if it was developed inside a chicken.

But despair not, egg-truthers! For if you consider the Chicken McNugget and the Egg McMuffin, then there the egg did indeed come first. So…at least there’s that.

Donut Release 🍩

Released on 2019 May 22

What's new
  • "Download CSV" option for archived News, Events
News administrators and Events administrators can now download details of archived items into a CSV. This makes it easier for administrators to access and manage archived items.

Who can do this: News Reporters and Editors for News, and Events Creators and Managers for Events.

  • Tasks: Beta updates
In the latest update for the beta version of Tasks, we improved the task editor, and now you can add/remove collaborators in the mobile app.

Who can do this: users in orgs who are Beta testing Tasks.

PLUS 79 other bug fixes and/or performance enhancements.

Did you know that Canadians eat the most doughnuts per capita in the world? Probably not so surprising when you consider that Canada also has the most doughnut shops per capita in the world (thanks, Tim Hortons!). Which all makes me wonder: What’s it going to take to get doughnuts recognized as Canada’s national food and Tim Horton’s birthday declared a national holiday?
