U is for Umbridge

Did you know that while He Who Must Not Be Named represented a supernatural kind of evil, Dolores Umbridge was meant to represent a far more realistic, lawful kind of evil? Stephen King was so unsettled by her in book five that he called her “the greatest make-believe villain to come along since Hannibal Lecter.”

It’s hard to believe the depth of her evil upon first glance, though. Umbridge is described as filling her office with doilies and kittens, and, most notably, wearing pink at every occasion.

Her love of pink was so well known that back in 2015, whenever this author would walk through the luxury department store that sat between her office and the nearest food court, she’d turn to her colleague, gesture to her right, and call the room filled with pink tweed the “Umbridge room.”

I guess that means the devil really does wear Prada. (Fall/Winter 2015, specifically.)
