***M*** *is for* ***Muggle***

A **muggle** is a non-magical person who comes from a non-magical family. They are not to be confused with Squibs, who are also non-magical people but have at least one magical parent.

The term muggle is unique to the British wizarding world. In America, they are called No-Maj. The French use the term non-magiques, which simply translates to non-magics. Although it may sound offensive, the word muggle is non-derogatory and often used affectionately.
