Ontario Municipalities Lead the Way in Internal Social Engagement

Municipalities in the province of Ontario are quickly becoming internal social collaboration leaders. Municipalities in the province of Ontario are quickly becoming internal social collaboration leaders.

The City of Waterloo, the City of Vaughan, and the County of Northumberland are just a few of the Canadian municipalities that have selected Jostle, a next-gen intranet that helps organizations enable their employees with the information and connections they need to get their work done.

These progressive city leaders have many lessons to share, and we are providing opportunities at three upcoming events. Jostle Corporation will be exhibiting at the annual conference of Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA) in Niagara Falls, ON from May 26th - 28th, 2014. We will be hosting a panel session at the annual conference of Municipal Information Systems Association (MISA) in Ottawa, ON - as well as exhibiting from June 8th - 11th, 2014. We also invite all municipal CAOs, IT and staff to join us at a Breakfast Session: Build a Vibrant & Connected Workplace Within Your City - May 29th 2014 in Toronto.

Jostle’s intranet software is unlike traditional intranets which tend to focus on the content, nor is it like overly social intranets which rely heavily on mass collaboration. Jostle’s intranet platform is richly visual, with an emphasis on the people within an organization. Jostle provides organizational clarity, bridges silos, and helps drive culture.

Municipalities are a natural fit for an intranet like Jostle due to their dispersed employees, complex structures, and external contributors who don’t always have access to phone or email. By adopting an intranet, municipalities can benefit from an engaging tool that reflects who they are as an organization.

Thanks to its file-sharing capabilities, Jostle is also reducing the need for document storage solutions, like SharePoint. Most recently, Jostle enabled the city of Vernon, to transition away from SharePoint, saving the British Columbia municipality over $60,000 a year.

“Jostle allows cities a way to clarify and connect their complex organizations, including employees not on traditional systems and external contributors to boards and commissions,” said Brad Palmer, Jostle CEO and Co-Founder. “We’re impressed by passion of Canadian cities to engage their employees and grow their culture.”
